Please, can we have the Doc Type Grid Editor project added to the Core?
The Doc Type Grid Editor allows for Document Types to be used inside the Grid. This turns the Grid into a more powerful user interface than it currently is and by adding this project to the core will prompt more developers to build richer editor experiences.
Please consider this.
Great idea! I'll add my vote. Even better if there was a tailored editor experience for grid doctypes, then it could handle a lot of the editor config (e.g. setting its name, icon and wiring up its render view).
Thanks, Barry. The icon can be taken from the doctype, the render view could be a specific view folder as we have for MacroPartials, this would keep configuration minimal?
@me_regan Yes, that's the kind of thing I was thinking - basically through the process of creating a doctype specifically for use as a grid editor, Umbraco would create an entry in grid.editors.config automatically for you. Or just store it internally to be merged with that list of 'true' custom editors at runtime.
@barryfogarty so basically, Core integration would be a breeze!
Theres a discussion going on at our regarding this, just for reference https://our.umbraco.org/forum/contributing-to-umbraco-cms/90220-doc-type-grid-editor-in-the-core
