U4-11457 - When a user's root node is deeper than top level, the tree auto collapses when any node is clicked.

Created by Ben Har 19 Jun 2018, 11:41:17 Updated by Ben Har 19 Jun 2018, 12:57:58

Duplicates: U4-11341

When logged in a user who has a start node lower than top level the tree will not stay expanded when the user is clicking nodes. Everything is fine when no start node is set (default start node is chosen).

To Reproduce: Create a new user, assign them a start node below the home node. Log in as that user and click some child nodes, the tree will collapse when you do.

Expected: Tree should stay open with the selected node highlighted.

I've made a video showing the exact issue here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRzoC4rlt_I&feature=youtu.be

This has been the case for the last couple of releases, we've updated to 7.11.0 today in the hopes it's sorted, but it's still causing issues. It's delaying us launching a product so we've marked this as major, but if you're not using the start node feature then it's not a big issue.

I think it may have been caused by another issue being fixed, namely this one: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-10995#

This bug has happened before going back to umbraco 7.1, here is the same issue from 4 years ago: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-4870

Thanks for your report, I can repro on 7.10.4 but not on 7.10.3, U4-11341 seems to have reported the same behavior.
