So someone reported back that my suggestion in this thread https://our.umbraco.com/forum/using-umbraco-and-getting-started/92806-replace-a-media-file#295074 does not change the url in the "link" under the info tab on a media item.
So I gave it a test on a 7.12 instance and on an older 7.7.13 instance.
And it's true - In 7.12 the link is not updated if one swaps the file that is referenced with another file resulting in a 404 if you try to open the link of course.
I have attached 2 links to youtube videos displaying the differences here
Behavior on Umbraco 7.7.13 - Works https://youtu.be/fK1NlC-66f4
Behavior on Umbraco 7.12 - Broken https://youtu.be/JkE4-10d-io
Ok so I did a little more testing on this. If you browse to another media item and get back to the first media type the URL is updated correctly.
Also if you simply hit ctrl+f5 the URL is also updated. So the only difference is that on the 7.7 version it updates instantly when the image is uploaded and that does not longer happen i 7.12...and probably also 7.10 and 7.11 I can imagine.
Definently not a biggie but something that would be nice to have fixed.
