Hides children of content and adds a dashboard on the top content node (the container) with a list view (with sort, filter, search support)
Does this mean all type of child content, even if content is of multiple content type? Can we optionally specify what types of content to be shown/not to be shown?
Suppose I've got a multi level category structure. Each category can have both category and news items! Can I specify to only hide news items, but still show lower lowel category nodes?
I agree with Dirk De Grave
My new idea about tabular data. For most of my sites, A lot of content nodes have some child nodes need to be shown as tree, other child nodes need to be shown as tabular style. So I suggest that when user set Allowed childnodes, add a option to set which allowed childnodes need to show as tabuar style. This way is more flexible and useful.
There is better way to do this. You just need to set News as Tabular data no need to set Category as Tabular data. By this way, if one Category node has both Category nodes and News nodes as its children. You can let child Category nodes list at left tree view and child News nodes be shown at right as tabular table.
This way is slight different with original way that Niels Hartvig proposed. By his way, you should set Category as Tabular, then all child nodes includes both child Category nodes and child News nodes only can be list at tabular table.
So, I think my way is more flexible than original way. because it can give user a choice: Show some child nodes(like child Category nodes) at left tree if you don't want it be shown as tabular table.
Or change logic slightly. Let All TDC show in tree even if they are children nodes of any TDC node.
The Media should be the same as Content. Let some type like Folder type list in the tree, other show as tabular
A thought on this... Since we are still using xml, in cases where archives are used, the usage of date folders or alpha folders actually increase performance of the content rendering as the items are pre-grouped. removing this will of course add processing overhead when filtering content on such groupings, as each node will need to be processed. Not a game changer, but a thought.
Where is Tabular Document Types?
With the progress of the new UI ("Belle") it makes much more sense to build the document type changes into that as opposed to spending much time now to change the current interface and database.
Maybe this issue should be updated since belle is coming closer.
