I try to maximize wysiwyg experience for content editors by applying the correct css inside the RTE. I also set the width of the RTE to match the site design so that line wrapping appears in the same place in the RTE as on the website. This works great and users love it!
The problem is... if the RTE adds a vertical scrollbar due to having a lot of content, the width of the editing area inside TinyMCE is reduced and the line wrapping positions change and no longer match the site design.
The TinyMCE editor space should always remain the specified width and the scrollbar should be pushed to the side somewhat if necessary to maintain proper line wrapping if the scrollbar is visible or not.
(this is the case with Chrome and IE9 at least; didn't try all browsers to see if any of them behave differently with regard to scrollbar appearance)
The width and height seem to be completely ignored in 6.2.1
