U4-2091 - Inserting image in RTE with mediatype "File" causes YSOD (6.0.3 and 6.1 beta)

Created by Gerard van Til 09 Apr 2013, 20:19:56 Updated by Gerard van Til 22 Apr 2013, 20:06:11

My editor sometimes uploads images as type "File". Inserting these images in the RTE in versions prior to 6.0.3 was no problem. Since 6.0.3, an image with type "File" gives a YSOD when inserting in the RTE.

Fresh install of 6.1 beta:

  • Goto media section
  • Create a folder
  • Create a new item (rightclick on folder, "create")
  • "Choose Media Type" defaults to "File".
  • Give media a name, and upload an image
  • Goto content, select node with RTE
  • Insert image. Click save or save-and-publish. YSOD.

Very strange, we were doing null tests there but apparently, when it's null, it's not really null... Can't figure out why.

Fixed in ffc19f17e578 with a try-catch block.

In the mean time, a workaround is to add a umbracoHeight and umbracoWidth property (type: label) on the File mediatype, that should help.

Tested with a Nightly, build 84. Confirmed: this is fixed now.
