U4-2099 - 6.1 Beta - Cannot rename datatypes

Created by Tom Fulton 10 Apr 2013, 18:32:22 Updated by Tom Fulton 14 May 2013, 04:04:55

Is duplicated by: U4-212

Relates to: U4-1979

When changing the name of a Datatype, the Name field updates & saves, but the name in the Tree and the Properties dropdown still shows the old name.

This does not appear to be an issue in 6.0.3

Also a problem for StyleSheets, Scripts, Partial Views, Templates, Macros, Packages (Created packages), Scripting Files, XSLT Files and Partial View Macro Files. Seems to have something to do with the new CacheRefreshers.

Yeah, this is because the cache refreshers are mostly listening to the events on the new API since I assumed all of the old APIs we're wired up to wrap the new ones but that is not the case. I had logged a task about that before here: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-1979

So for now its a case of needing to listen to events from both the old and the new APIs. This seems inconsistent to me and will probably cause a few headaches for package devs that simply want to listen for one event, not multiple events for the same thing.

Shannon Deminick 08 May 2013, 05:18:35

Hrmm... nope sorry that wasn't the underlying prob, the cache refreshers were already listening to the legacy and new events. In this case the data type cache was not being cleared due to it caching based on a GUID as well which was overlooked. Really need to get this task done so we can actually visualize the cache: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-2133 ... at least its much cleaner than it was :)

The rest of the issues with the other trees are due to changes made with async saving and the code editor. The data saves, if you refresh the tree's you'll see it. That issue is because someone didn't re-implement tree syncing when updating the code editor stuff.... I'll fix it.

Sebastiaan Janssen 08 May 2013, 08:37:28

With regards to datatypes: no, refreshing the tree doesn't help. I haven't tried the other menus, so I'll give that a go.

Shannon Deminick 08 May 2013, 08:39:16

Yeah, that one is fixed, the rest of the issues are tree sync.

Sebastiaan Janssen 08 May 2013, 08:40:36

Cool, I can have a look at those if you want?

Shannon Deminick 08 May 2013, 08:42:47

just in the middle of working on them. Will let you know how far I get

Shannon Deminick 09 May 2013, 03:23:36

This is all fixed but unfortunately I did it all in the 6.1 branch. Just backporting changes now. A couple of fixes can go into 4.x but the rest I'll get in to 6.0.x

Confirmed back to normal in 6.1 beta 2 - thanks!
