Currently there seems to be no mechanism for setting a 'default document type' within a document type hierarchy.
For instance - given a "Master" document type, that allows for five different child document types in its structure, you're quite likely to have at least one of those types that will be commonly used. For instance a type called "Content" could represent 95% of the child nodes of the "Master" document type. Currently Umbraco seems to set the default alphabetically which may mean the default document type is actually only for corner cases. This means the user must change the document type each time.
This quickly creates a frustrating user experience.
