It would be nice to be able to add an alternative text (alt text) to an image, when choosing it using the media picker since the same image can be used many times throughout the site in different contexts that requires unique alternative texts.
Currently the only way to add alternative text is by extending the image type with a field for alternative text - if the editor then needs to use the same image but with a different alternative text he will need to make a copy of the image and then change the alternative text, which is a bit messy and can make it hard to maintain a medium to large website.
I agree, this is something we need. The same image can also be used on a multi-lingual site, so we cannot just add the alt text on the media type. For the very same reasons, we need the title-tag too.
Edit: The media picker in the RTE has a field for alt-tag ("name"). This is the feature I would like duplicated on the media picker, but with "alt" and "title".
This is something that we really need. It's very difficult to have contextual aware alternate text as it is right now.
I totally agree, you really need the Alt attribute in a cms for usability + SEO.
@Judith.HD It's actually more important for accessibility - has nothing to do with usability but as a bonus it's beneficial for SEO as well indeed but the title attribute is suitable for that as well :)
@JanSkovgaard You're right, mainly accessibility. But also usability (for instance re web buttons).
this will be awesome if we will get it !!! its very much necessary
