U4-2847 - Drag and drop into media section

Created by Markus Johansson 13 Sep 2013, 13:55:16 Updated by Markus Johansson 02 Oct 2013, 05:21:28

I would love to see the possibility to just drag and drop a file into the media section dashboard.

Adding new files would not force me to click on media/create etc - just drag it into the browser.

That's been there since 4.9.1?

I know! I was talking Umbraco 7.... Looks like my selection of "affected version" did not get saved... Sorry Seb for wasting you time on this one =D

D'oh! Gotcha, I was starting to think that you hadn't used Umbraco in three years.. ;-)

Just added this to the new folder browser data type and will add to the dashboard as well, you can simply drag files onto any of these to upload

I've just tested this! Works like a sharm! Would'nt it be nice to indicate that you can accualy drag and drop file into the dialog?

If you're using jquery it'll look something like this to add a dashed border around the container.

$('.userClientImage').bind('dragenter', function() { $('.userClientImage').css({'border' : '4px dashed #bb2b2b'}); return false; });

$('.userClientImage').bind('dragleave', function() { $('.userClientImage').css({'border' : 'none'}); return false; });

Or something saying: "Drop your files here to upload"... I don't know... the feature is a little bit hidden now..

EDIT: Just saw the dashboard in the media-section. Something like that in the media picker as well would be lovley!
