To complete the upgrade you should follow all of the upgrade instructions (http://our.umbraco.org/contribute/releases/701) and clear your browser cache and cookies thoroughly (we're working on making that obsolete). Mind you, expecially Chrome caches very aggressively, so we recommend using installing a "clear cache" extension for that.

If that does not help, make sure to look at any javascript errors you get and post them here.

Hi, Still no luck.

I followed the upgrade explanation.

  1. Added the new dll files
  2. Removed all uGoLive dlls from /bin
  3. Moved appSettings/connectionStrings back to web.config
  4. Deleted all files in ~/App_Data/TEMP/Razor/* (DIDNT EXIST)
  5. Replaced all files in the /install folder

Then the upgrade proces began. I was able to login directly after upload.

Then i got back to the site later the same and got a white screen. I also tried in other browsers and on other pc´s.

Try here: http://vegalandskab.dk/umbraco/#/login

Attached is the js error i see. Its in the file angualr.min.js line 63 "No server variables defined"

Sorry, did you also overwrite all /umbraco and /umbraco_client files. I'll add a link to the general upgrade guide to the release notes: http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/installation/upgrading/general

No, i didnt copy those folders, wasnt aware i should do that also.

i did that now. I now get the login screen, but i still cant login. Nothing happens when i click the submit button.

New js errors. And i actually see the password in the console.

Here is the trace for the last Post in the console log.: http://vegalandskab.dk/umbraco/UmbracoApi/Authentication/PostLogin?username=admin&password=

I obviously don't know your password but trying to log in on that URL seems to give the correct error message now (for invalid password). I think the last piece of the puzzle was that your application pool needed to be recycled after copying the new files over AND you should once again thoroughly clear your browser cache. Would love to hear if it's working for you now, if you get the same error, try clearing cache again or use a different browser that hasn't opened the site before. We're working on not having your username and password in a querystring in the URL.

Sebastiaan Janssen 06 Jan 2014, 09:35:03

Actually, the behavior you're seeing is different in 7.0.1, so I'm guessing either not all the files have been updated properly or you still need to recycle the app pool.

So, you should definitely not see a username and password in the querystring, might be good to follow this topic as someone else seems to be struggling with this too: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/umbraco-7/using-umbraco-7/47120-Logging-in-again-reveals-password-in-URL!

I never got it to work, ended up setting up a fresh 7.0.1 and then added my content. Luckily it was a new and small website.

Same issue here. Also get the "No MediaTypeFormatter is available to read an object of type 'LoginModel' from content with media type 'text/plain'" error.

Sebastiaan Janssen 20 Jan 2014, 13:35:43

@Marcel try updating the version number in ClientDependency.config - So if the version is now 10, make it 11, save the file and maybe restart your application pool as well (though that shouldn't be necessary, try it without restarting the app pool first).

Sebastiaan Janssen 20 Jan 2014, 13:44:24

I've created a new task for this so that those upgrade scenarios get handled better in the future (http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-4092).

Marcel Lüscher 20 Jan 2014, 14:09:30

As I understand. This version number represent a versioning for js and server communication. I had version number 2 so with change to version 3 I will deal with the cache issue?

Sebastiaan Janssen 20 Jan 2014, 14:13:38

@Marcel Indeed. Worked for me! :-)

Marcel Lüscher 20 Jan 2014, 14:16:46

@Sebastiaan: thx works also for me. I will mark this issue as closed.

Eric Schrepel 14 Oct 2014, 18:17:36

Having the same issue just starting today (7.1.7). We use Active Directory for backoffice logins, everything has been fine until today. Now the login screen automatically redirects to http://{ourdomain}/umbraco#/login/false, which displays the login screen but nothing happens when clicking Login button.
