U4-4117 - Session Timeout doesn't allow login again / save state

Created by Chris Campbell 22 Jan 2014, 17:16:10 Updated by Shannon Deminick 26 Jun 2017, 05:41:32

Relates to: U4-5240

When Umbraco logged me out after my session expired, I tried entering my credentials but it wouldn't let me log back in. I had to go back to the site/umbraco root login screen to log in, which started a new session and I lost the updates I was making.

This is for Umbraco 7.0.0

This has been fixed in 7.0.2, along with a lot of other issues, make sure to upgrade.

I'm using 7.1.4 and this still seems to be an issue. Exact same symptoms, JS session tracker kicks you out, but signing in doesn't let you back in. You seem to have to wait till the real session times out and you can log back in again.

Even if signing-in again works, you still lose whatever state of the page you were working on. For example, working on lots of changes in a rich-text editor, or working in a template editor for too long? You suddenly and instantly lose all of your work. This was not a problem back in v4 and v6. (VERSION 7.1.6)
