U4-4143 - In rich text editor, non ASCII characters in source code window are encoded

Created by Harry Kakoulidis 25 Jan 2014, 23:59:16 Updated by Harry Kakoulidis 04 Apr 2014, 00:29:34

Assume the following text in the rich text editor (it's in Greek):

Up until version 6, clicking the "Source Code" button you would get the following markup:

However since version 7.0.2, you get the following:

The Greek letters are replaced using a html encoded Unicode format. It is of course valid html, but it makes the source code very hard to look at and work with if necessary! For example, if I want to manually enter a style class around a paragraph, it's impossible to find the paragraph I want in the text. This problem never existed in any version before 7.

Note that in the actual rendered page, the Greek text is with normal characters, not html encoded.

I don't understand, am I the only person typing in non ASCII letters? This is a huge show-stopper for using version 7. It makes it painfully hard to edit the source code.

This is fixed in 7.1

or actually it should also be fixed in 7.0.4

I have just installed 7.10 and the issue is not fixed. I've tried the following:

  1. Source code windows keeps showing html encoded characters.
  2. Paste again non-ascii text in the html editor. Again automatically I see html encoded text in source code window.
  3. Pasting directly to source code window non-ascii characters, then clicking OK, then clicking source code window to open again, even like this the characters are html encoded!

Please fix this as it's impossible to edit source code when it looks like the screenshot!!! This is a very serious problem for me.
