U4-4503 - Tags datatype does not autocomplete

Created by Asbjørn Riis-Knudsen 22 Mar 2014, 16:50:58 Updated by Biagio Paruolo 14 May 2016, 13:25:39

Is duplicated by: U4-3973

Relates to: U4-4666

Relates to: U4-5400

In previous Umbraco versions the Tags datatype suggested existing tags while adding a new one. The Tags datatype in Umbraco 7 does not seem to do this. This massively increases the risk of introducing typos in tags and thus reduces the effectiveness of tagging.

It looks like the tags property editor is currently just a textbox in 7.1.0 and it doesn't save contents (or maybe it does but when reloading the page I don't see the tags coming back). Think something might've broken in the javascript libraries powering this editor.

@sebastiaan I can't replicate this, I've tested this on new/existing doc types and media types.

Also, the feature of tags + auto-complete was not actually done and shouldn't be tagged as due in 7.1

Okay didn't know that, my bad!

Not sure how you're testing:

  • Normal install done with SQLCE + Txt Starter Kit
  • Add tags property editor to Textpage
  • Type "hello" in the tags field
  • Save & publish (still looks fine)
  • Click another node and go back to the textpage you just edited
  • Result: value is not there any more

I think you have to press Enter after entering a tag to convert it into a tag (a blue rectangle). That part seems to work in my testing, just not the autocomplete.

Aaah, sweet, that works, thanks! :) Autocomplete coming in 7.1.1 (sorry, there's only so many hours in a day).

So we're now getting this in 7.1.1 AND 7.2 (U4-3973)...:)

Could there be some hint about the "press enter" part? Now you can type a bunch of words in the textarea, press save, it will look like it was saved, but nothing actually happened.
