U4-4630 - TinyMCE and Internet Explorer Problems

Created by James Brooksbank 07 Apr 2014, 08:46:04 Updated by Thor Madsen-Holm 28 Apr 2014, 13:42:11

I have been experiencing a problem with tinymce in Internet Explorer (version 7+). I reported the problem on the following forum post: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/ourumb-dev-forum/bugs/49739-TinyMCE-and-Internet-Explorer

When trying to add a link, nothing applies, I cannot view the html either. Other browsers are working fine.

When debugging in IE, I see the following error:

"SCRIPT16389: Incorrect function." when trying to view the html, no error when adding a link.

Please note that for v7+ we only support IE10 and higher: http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Installation/system-requirements

As for why, see the long discussion here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/umbraco-ux/icp35UK_TLo/ND-x-gve6SkJ

Sorry but its not resolved.... Granted in using v6.2 and you want to push out v7... But there is no recorded resolution to this. Also i said versions of ie from 7 that includes 10 and 11.

On 7.1.0 I do not get any errors inserting links in the RTE.

So this is an issue in 6.2.0 then? Which 6.2.0 version are you using, a nightly?

Sorry my bad, wrong version number it's 6.1.6.

I might have to go version 7.1.0, but trying to hold off on that, my client is only using IE 7 to 9 at the moment

Alright, I also can't reproduce in 6.1.6 though (IE11). Maybe there's an umbraco package that's causing conflicts? Could try to see if you can create a document type with just the RTE on it so other datatypes don't interfere.

I have the same/similar problem with Umbraco 4.7.1 and IE11 ... when trying to insert a link (e.g. to a media file) the pop-up box works fine but clears itself when OK is pressed. Switching IE to work in version 10 cures the problem.

I tried switching to version 10, but still the problem remains, I also can't see anything in html view.

I can confirm it with IE11 v6.1.6
