U4-4893 - Inconsistent display of file extensions in the UI

Created by Douglas Robar 14 May 2014, 09:56:40 Updated by Shannon Deminick 18 Jun 2014, 07:08:53

Inconsistent filenames in the trees.

  • Stylesheets do not show the .css extension in the tree.
  • Scripts, XSLT and Partial Views (among others) display the .js, .xslt, or .cshtml extension in the tree.

Though in all cases you shouldn't enter the extension when creating the item (see U4-4892)

Consistency everywhere please (and, for my part, I'd prefer to not show extensions in the back office trees as it isn't needed there)

Updated the FileSystemTree base class to hide extensions (first tried with dimming the extension, but that was just clutter in the tree)

This cannot be blanket changed, see: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-5079

it will need to be dealt with separately since some file trees require the file extension to do certain things.

@hartvig - just confirming that we are not displaying the file extension greyed out? I'd like to remove the additional code you added for this if we are not using it.
