U4-4950 - U7.1.3 multiple media picker

Created by Robert Dyson 20 May 2014, 08:21:30 Updated by Sebastiaan Janssen 08 Jul 2014, 18:01:21

I've just installed a new instance of 7.1.3 and it seems the Multiple Media Picker is no longer working. When you select the first image the selection bar at the right closes immediately and there is no icon to select more images.

I am using chrome and have attached a screenshot to show any console messages.

Confirmed.

The workaround is to go to the DEVELOPER section, select the DATATYPES > MULTIPLE MEDIA PICKER item, and put a checkmark in the "Pick multiple items" checkbox, and then save the datatype.

This should be the default setting for the Multiple Media Picker.

Oh Great! Thanks for the workaround. It worked perfectly.

Fixed in rev: 7ec4d3f26d27f72442e96021f65bf676eb4ceef1

Ensures this pre-value is true on install

Hi Shanoon,

This is not fixed. I have 7.1.4 build from nugget, and it is still not fixed. I am not sure why it is marked as fixed. Kindly look into this, and make sure you verify it before making it. The wayaround given by douglas works, but this should work because its a damn multiple media picker. Hope next builds are of quality

It was fixed in 7.1.4, but its not selecting multiple media items by default. We have to do a wayaround to select a property from main property.

Ali Sufyan 14 Jun 2014, 18:19:31

commit to nugget as well

Sebastiaan Janssen 16 Jun 2014, 08:31:07

@pentiumali It's fixed for new installs, if you've upgraded from an older version you'll have to use Doug's workaround and update the datatype manually.

Sebastiaan Janssen 16 Jun 2014, 08:54:54

@sg Also for you, if you're upgrading, you need to still fix this manually:

The workaround is to go to the DEVELOPER section, select the DATATYPES > MULTIPLE MEDIA PICKER item, and put a checkmark in the "Pick multiple items" checkbox, and then save the datatype.

@sebastiaan Thanks, the workaround works :) Didn't realize it would be different when it's an upgrade.

Hi Sebastiaan, if it is like this then change the data type name to something like this "MEDIAPICKERWHICHISNOTAMULTIPLEMEDIAPICKERWITHOUTCHANGINGTHECHECKMARKWHICHYOUDONOTKNOWBYDEFAULTANDHAVETORESEARCHALOT"

Ali Sufyan 24 Jun 2014, 12:03:14

And for the record I am on 7.1.4, and I updated from nugget through visual studio.

Ali Sufyan 24 Jun 2014, 12:11:34

not fixed. KINDLY TAKE IT BACK TO DOING

Sebastiaan Janssen 24 Jun 2014, 12:47:56

@pentiumali Please calm down, it is fixed if you start from 7.1.4, so all new installs will not see this problem.

Ali Sufyan 02 Jul 2014, 16:29:36

Dear Sebastian, I am on 7.1.4, I tried doing a clean install, and then I came here, it is not fixed. I got it from nugget, may be its not updated there

Sebastiaan Janssen 08 Jul 2014, 18:01:21

Hi Ali, do you have steps to reproduce please?

My steps:

  • Installed using NuGet like this http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Installation/install-umbraco-with-nuget
  • I set up Umbraco
  • In the backoffice I added a document type named "Test"
  • On the generic properties tab of that document type I add a new property called Test Picker and the type is Multiple Media Picker
  • In the content section I add a content item of document type Test and upload a few files which I can then all pick
  • After a Save & Publish I verified that the files are still picked properly by clicking on the recycle bin and then clicking the content item again

Screenshots are attached. In the future if you'd like to report a bug, adding steps to reproduce (like I just did) will help much more than shouting at us. :-) Thanks!
