I have a CSS file that is about 154KB in size. When I try to save the CSS file I get an error message: Can not be saved: Check permissions...
So I tried to create a new stylesheet with some text in it - worked perfectly! It was saved in the filesystem
Next I tried to paste the CSS from the big CSS file into the newly created file - Error! Can not be saved...
So I deleted some lines from the CSS file - step by step - and finally when I deleted over 1000 lines the file was successfully saved. The filesize at this point was about 98KB.
To be sure that it's a size issue, I added some text lines again and sure enough, there was again an error saving the CSS file.
My environment: Umbraco 7.1.3, but upgraded from 4.11.10 recently... Shared Hosting
On Umbraco 4.x I did not have this issue. But when upgrading to 7.1.3 I also moved to another server - so there might be a chance that it's related to the server configuration. But I don't have this issue with template files for example....
TraceLog shows no errors!
seems to be a configuration issue: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/ourumb-dev-forum/bugs/36590-CssErrorHeader-and-CssErrorText-when-Saving-CSS
the web.config snippet solved the issue for me!
