U4-5158 - 417 Missing token after login on site

Duplicates: U4-9873

Is there a way to differenciate the cookie for the Umbraco Backend and the Website login? Now when our customers login to the website the cookie of Umbraco will be overridden and Umbraco will do nothing anymore. (except giving this error in the console: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 417 (Missing token null)

Which version of Umbraco please?

Sebastiaan Janssen 08 Jul 2014, 17:29:45

How are you checking the cookie and why? You can differentiate the login state like this:

If that's not what you are trying to do, please add steps to reproduce this issue so we can have a look, I haven't seen this behavior before.

Please don't re-open issues until you can provide more information to reproduce it.

Hey Sebastiaan, Txs for the reply,

I tried to reproduce my issue in a new install, can't get it reproduced so i think it is already fixed.

I was not trying to get the check the cookie, i had the problem that the login of the site was overwriting the cookie of the umbraco login wich gave me the 417 Missing token null issue in the chrome console.

FYI, I saw this error on a new install of 7.2.1. I installed it and used the backoffice just fine a couple days ago, but got the error when logging back in today. Manually deleting my cookies fixed the issue.

@tomnf Thank you Tom, yes deleting my cookies solves it for that moment in time, but anytime i login into the website (not umbraco) the Umbraco install hangs and got me this error.

this seems to affect 7.2.5 replication steps are explained here: https://our.umbraco.org/forum/umbraco-7/using-umbraco-7/65380-Backend-go-crash-when-navigating-Frontend-in-same-browser

could this ticket be reopened please

We've tracked down the reason for this problem: the front-end was creating a cookie that had a name that had an 'invalid' character in it (in my case it was the opening and closing brackets). Interesting that the backoffice would fail as it did in this scenario but it's easy enough in this case to change the cookie name so that it all works now.

Umbraco 7.4.1.

Browsers: FF, Chrome latest

Steps to reproduce:

  1. clear browser cookie+cache
  2. open umbraco admin.
  3. enter user details
  4. missed left panel.

Only Tree with Content loaded, but when click to any node I receive:

http://localhost:58528/umbraco/backoffice/UmbracoApi/Content/GetById?id=1067 417 (Missing token)

When i go to web site http://localhost:58528/ and than re-load umbraco admin - all works OK. So toket was received only on web site!

Thanks, Mike

http://prnt.sc/erxgqt Our customer just reported this problem. Screenshot linked. Clearing the cookies didn't fix it, Is there any other solution apart from Upgrading?

I'm consolidating all the 417 errors into U4-9873.
