Unable to delete some templates but not all. in version 7.1.4.
Are you sure this is on 7.1.4? What is different about the templates you can't delete? Is the site an upgrade from an older version?
No it's a new build. Nothing they're empty and not being used by any doctype.
@scott.lightening Are they all empty and not being used by any doctype? Even the ones you CAN delete?
I have also tried to change the template master but I get an error saying "Master directive not found" but it's now stopped doing that since I saved the template under a new master.
No the ones I can delete are not empty. I moved the content to a partial view and once I got that working I went to delete the full templates. some deleted but two didn't. I have also redone all the content.
Any chance you can zip up your site + database so we can have a look at it. You can post a link to a download here, set the "Visible to:" field to "HQ" so that only we can see it.
I will send a copy over as soon as I can.
@scott.lightening Thanks Scott, before I have a look could you see if this is your problem as well? http://our.umbraco.org/forum/core/general/54672-U7-Unable-to-delete-old-templates-(again)-
If you've used a template on a node once then it keeps it in use in the older revisions of that node so that you can roll back. A solution could be to install and use the FALM Housekeeping package and see if you can remove most older revisions of the nodes.
Ok I've installed FALM but when I attempt to use it I get a red 404 error from umbraco stating (Request error: The URL returned a 404 (not found): views/FALMHousekeeping/edit.html).
Also when I try to remove FALM I get another error:
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: No id 2 exists in dictionary
it uninstalled fine the 2nd time tho.
Could any of this be linked?
I could delete all content and start again as there is not a lot at the moment.
Ok, I've fixed it. I had to delete some of the content nodes and then re make them because the node once used the old template. I also empted the recycle bin.
So it was the same problem but I couldn't use FALM.
Thanks for your help.
