U4-6405 - Dropdown list in List View - a switch is needed

Created by Jan Bengtsson 16 Mar 2015, 10:27:35 Updated by Claus Hingebjerg 05 Jul 2017, 06:46:26

When using the Dropdown list data type in Umbraco 7, the values - and not the internal id's - is displayed in the Content node. As it should. But when adding the same dropdown list to a List View as one of its Columns it's the other way around - id is displayed but not value. Which makes it pretty pointless for an editor.

This is a problem for me as well. I am trying to display a list view that shows the category that was selected for each child node, from a dropdown, but the list view just shows ID numbers, which isn't helpful at all.

I experienced this issue too, just wrote a 'hacky' fix for anyone interested.

Have included a resolution of this in an existing, related, open PR here: https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/pull/1495

It would also be great if you could render a different output in listview umb-table instead of raw text, e.g. for a boolean value (checkbox) it would make sense to present an icon (e.g. icon-check / icon-delete) instead of true/false - mainly in custom columns.

For the package Bulk User Admin: https://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/bulk-user-admin/ it is now changing to the new/updated listview component/directive, where it would be great to display icons to editors instead of true/false. https://github.com/leekelleher/umbraco-bulk-user-admin/pull/17

I agree with Bjarne - i have a current project where a node has an option of "Verified" as a true/false parameter. This renders as 1/0 on the list view, which isn't very editor friendly.
