U4-6554 - Umbraco 7.2.4 Install via nuget with txt or Overflow starter site fails.

Created by Eric 24 Apr 2015, 19:40:30 Updated by Shannon Deminick 26 Jun 2017, 07:11:21

What did you do?

Attempted to install Umbraco 7.2.4 with the txt or overflow starter websites to an empty ASP.NET Web Application via nuget.

What did you expect to happen?

Expected Umbraco to install normally and redirect to the CMS desk once completed.

What actually happened?

Received multiple error messages. First when attempting to run site for the first time I receive a dialog box: "Unable to save changes to file. Object not set to an instance of an object".

Then after configuring a SQL database connection and selecting one of the starter sites I receive an Error during installation message "Could not find a part of the path '[app path]\App_Plugins'.

The installation completes successfully when using SQL Server CE or installing with SQL Server and Fanoe or no starter site at all. The last version I was able to install via nuget with no issues is 7.2.1. This has been tried on multiple computers with the following environment:

Visual Studio 2013 NuGet Package Manager 2.8.60318.734 SQL Server 2012

I suspect your installation path is too long (c:\users\eric g\documents\visual studio 2013\Projects\Umbraco724_0424 \Umbraco724_0424). Try creating the project and installing somewhere else e.g. C:\Projects\Umbraco_Overflow

@schlubadub The path doesn't appear to be the issue, please see attached. I tried with a much shorter path ('c:\u724\u724\App_Plugins') with the same results.
