When you create an RTE DataType, you can set the maximum size, but that affects the width AND height, which is incredibly limiting. For example:
RTE Max size is set to the maximum width of the content area of the design (say 600px).
User inserts a very tall image, say an Infographic for example, which is 600px wide, and 1500px high. Because the Max dimension is applied to both width AND height, it resizes by the height (which is the large dimension), resulting in a very narrow image that's 600px high.
This seems kind of daft to me, as you'd normally want to restrict images by width rather than height.
I would suggest that there be the option to set maximum width AND height (along with the option to have one or both ignored by setting it to 0). This would be much more flexible. Currently, you're options are to set the max size to the larger value (which means images that are too wide can now be uploaded), or go in and manually edit the HTML to take the dimensions off.
I agree that having it work for both is a bug. I'd always assumed it was only for the width, since that's the one that can wreak the most havoc to any layout.
Making this only apply to the width would probably cover 90% of use cases, I think.
