Umbraco 7 has the wonderful feature to select icon and color for any document-type.
But I think that the "blue" icon color is not a good "blue" color. And "red" is similar to "orange", "orange" is similar to "yellow".
I suggest to change colors to another color set to do a better UI experience.
I agree with this. And maybe used a wider range of colors, e.g. like these icons http://zavoloklom.github.io/material-design-iconic-font/examples.html#animated-icons#colored-icons where the color codes are inspired from these color codes: http://zavoloklom.github.io/material-design-color-palette/colors.html
Commented on the PR, we will review color use internally as they are based on a brand guideline
We are closing this task for now because we will be going through an internal design process regarding colors and syncing schemes with uaas.
I just stumbled upon this issue. Shouldn't we open it again?
Maybe basing the colors on Umbraco's branding isn't the correct way in all situations?
As a developer setting up Umbraco solutions for a client, I would much rather be able to use colors specific to their branding - so perhaps instead of hardcoding the available colors in a view, we should have some way to add, edit or remove available colors via C#?
And then of course just handle the actual coloring via custom CSS files.
@Shandem is there any plan to add additional icon colors or rethink the defined colors?
