U4-6897 - "default" 404 errorpage on multi-site install gives server errors for other languages

Created by Rik Helsen 30 Jul 2015, 07:10:43 Updated by Shannon Deminick 26 Jun 2017, 07:13:12

we have a umbraco 6.2.5 site that hosts 3 different language sites: www.site.com / cn.site.com and es.site.com

We have configured 404 errorpage using the nodeID of a contentnode that exists in the www.site.com/content/errorpages/404 location

  • we only specifiy the default errorpage & the errorpage for EN, both with the ID for www.site.com/content/errorpages/404 (EN) Result:
  • the EN errorpage works
  • the SE and CN errorpages don't

When we go to cn.site.com/a-page-that-doesnt-exist or es.site.com/a-page-that-doesnt-exist we don't see a 404 but instead we see a server error... (screenshot included)

As soon as we add specific errorpage configlines for each locale, it does work, so it seems that the defaultvalue is never used.
