U4-7561 - Backoffice Media Section should provide information on physical location of files

Created by Chester Campbell Jr 17 Dec 2015, 16:07:19 Updated by Mads Rasmussen 13 Jan 2016, 09:41:11

Your report will have a greater chance of being addressed if you can give us clear steps to reproduce the issue, please answer the following questions in as much detail as possible: What did you do?

Using the Umbraco 7.4.0 beta I uploaded some images into the Media Section. I then selected one of the new images in the Media Tree and clicked on the thumbnail of the image itself.

What did you expect to happen?

I expected a new browser window or tab to open loading the actual image from the file system ... thereby providing me with the path to the physical file.

What actually happened?

Nothing.

Alternatively, I can right-click on the image and from the contextual menu select "open image in new tab" (or whatever it says for the browser you're using). But what I'd really like to see in the list of properties for the image is the path to the physical file. This information is very useful for my content editors when they're trying to clean out the media section. It would be nice if the content editors didn't have to take an extra step to get it.

Good point, would be good to have a link on the generic properties tab like it is on content.
