U4-7700 - 7.4 beta Backoffice Routing problem for Custom Sections or Installed Packages with a custom section

Created by Ahmed Nas 12 Jan 2016, 12:25:00 Updated by Sebastiaan Janssen 01 Feb 2016, 08:23:10

After Installing Umbraco 7.4 beta to test with a new project, we noticed that there is a Routing problem when creating a Backoffice custom section or installing any package with a custom section e.g. (uCommentator).

What did you expect to happen?

If we create a custom section with contents in the edit template "edit.html", it should be displayed. Please see the below image number 1.

What actually happened?

  • If the custom section contains any node with contents in the edit template "edit.html", it will be displayed empty.
  • If we click any node link, it will redirect to the main node e.g. Home.

Please see the below images number 2 and 3.

Encountered this with my own custom section. This was working in 7.3.4.

I've also just installed UmbracoBookshelf and this exhibits the same problem.

Yes @vmburd, any Package with a custom section as (UmbracoBookshelf, uCommentator) or even your own custom section will not work. I've tried to solve this bug but without any luck since there is no errors in the error log. but I think maybe something conflicting with the Angular Route

Yes I faced the same problem when I created a new custom section in umbraco 7.4 beta.

I think it is urgent issue to be solved.

Tested & verified this when using nightly 7.4.0-build2462 & using the UmbracoBookshelf package via Nuget version 0.10.6 that when clicking items in the custom section tree, redirect back to the content section

Here's another problem with routing that's most likely related: https://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/diplo-trace-log-viewer/diplo-trace-log-viewer/74406-error-displaying-logs-with-740-beta2

Also run into this issue after upgrading to the 7.4-beta2. Will there be a 7.4 beta3 or RC soon to test if all custom sections and the diplo trace log viewer work again?

Ahmed Nas 31 Jan 2016, 12:59:27

Actually it's already solved @jbreuer, I downloaded the complete project from Github and did build as a workaround till the fix be available in the next release.

Jeroen Breuer 31 Jan 2016, 13:02:22

I know it's fixed, but the fix is not available yet on NuGet. That's why I'm asking if beta3 or an RC will be released to test it.

Shannon Deminick 31 Jan 2016, 13:31:51

I don't know what happened to the nightly builds but they will we'll fix them on Monday and you can use that to test @jbreuer

Shannon Deminick 31 Jan 2016, 13:32:09

Or you can do what @AhmedNas suggest... clone the repo and run the build script

Shannon Deminick 31 Jan 2016, 13:32:59

There is no plan for an additional beta or rc release

Jeroen Breuer 31 Jan 2016, 13:43:04

Thanks for the update Shannon. Will try to clone the repo and run the build script. There have been a lot of changes since beta2 I think (especially with the Models Builder) so I thought there would be an RC.

Nightly builds are available on MyGet - https://www.myget.org/F/umbraconightly/api/v2 And from the nightlies download pages: http://nightly.umbraco.org/?container=umbraco-730 (the 7.4 builds ended up in the wrong directory, this is fixed for the next build). And from AppVeyor (each commit and PR gets built) - https://ci.appveyor.com/project/Umbraco/umbraco-cms-hs8dx/history
