U4-7848 - Define which group custom property editor should belong

Created by Bjarne Fyrstenborg 27 Jan 2016, 13:16:30 Updated by Bjarne Fyrstenborg 28 Jan 2016, 18:07:19

In Umbraco 7.4.0 the property editors / data types belongs to a group, e.g. some editors are listed under "pickers".

Would it be possible to define from the package.manifest which group it should belong? In core they are defined like this: https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/blob/dev-v7/src/Umbraco.Web/PropertyEditors/RelatedLinksPropertyEditor.cs#L11

E.g. for my package Color Palettes it might want to display it under "pickers" or the package developers for e.g. Multi-URL Picker and Link Picker. For custom property editors they seems to be listed only under "Common".

Furthermore maybe also the possibility to define new groups? .. and maybe also being able to choose another icon than default?

In your package.manifest you can give your custom property editor a "group" and an "icon" property and it will end up in that group and use that icon. You can make your own group or set it to one of the default groups: media, lists etc. Documentation for 7.4 in the making ;)

{
    "propertyEditors": [{
        "alias": "My.PropertyEditor",
        "name": "My property editor",
        "group": "My custom group",
        "icon": "icon-document",
        "editor": {
            "view": "~/App_Plugins/PropertyEditor/propertyeditor.html"
        }
    }]
}

Oh, that is awesome! :) I guess these properties just are ignored in < 7.4.0 versions then? :)
