U4-8408 - The formatted in the RTE (Header) it cannot be back to normal body text

Created by Jintana Takum 04 May 2016, 07:35:23 Updated by Jintana Takum 10 May 2016, 03:12:06

What did you expect to happen? When a text has a format h1 and text-align, then it will return to normal body text if I click h1 format.

What actually happened? When some text has been formatted in the RTE (h1, h2 etc...) it cannot be formatted back to normal body text.

  • If a text has a format e.g. h1, then it will return to normal body text if I click the h1 format.(picture 1)
  • If a text has a format e.g. h1 and text-align, then it will return to normal body text, but I can't click the h1 format. (picture 2)

I always provide at least three format options for users:

*Paragraph text *Heading 1 *Heading 2

That way you can always revert to regular

tags at any time.

FWIW, I ask users what they call 'regular' text. Many choose either 'Normal' or 'Body Text' because that's what MS Word uses.

I also include the 'clean sweep' toolbar item for users to be able to highlight some text and click the button to remove any hidden markup that isn't obvious. And personally, I don't include the 'show markup' button on the toolbar; content editors don't need it in Word and I don't want to suggest they need it in Umbraco either. But that, too, is a choice you'll want to make after talking to users.

Hope this helps.

cheers,
doug.
