U4-8439 - Import Document Type function does not set allowed child types

Created by Barry Fogarty 11 May 2016, 10:47:12 Updated by Sebastiaan Janssen 03 Nov 2016, 14:15:48

Steps to reproduce:

  • Export a document type with a single allowed child type as a UDT file
  • Import it to another Umbraco instance

What did you expect to happen?

  • The doctype to be imported with the allowed child type set

What actually happened?

  • The doctype was imported without the allowed child type set

One other thing, the button/link to close the Import Doctype dialog is missing.

Encountered the same issue although in my case I had more than one child type. None of the children were set on the imported document type.

This behaviour is by design to ensure consistency within the document type permissions. Since the import and export are using the packaging service multiple export files would need to be bundled together, including everything that is in a composition, parents and permissions.

I would agree, the doctype is only exported as a single item, in order to export it including it's parents/children you'd need to create a package out of them.
