U4-9139 - Backoffice visual design flaws

Created by Bruno Olsen 02 Nov 2016, 14:35:59 Updated by Sebastiaan Janssen 03 Nov 2016, 09:24:12

A couple of flaws have annoyed me since the beginning of version 7 that makes Umbraco a bit more tedious to work with at times.

First of all, if an error message is long the top is outside the visible container, so you can't see the first line and you can't close the error message. You have to use the browsers developers tools to work around this. (Attachment: errormessage.png)

Secondly editors are missing the vertical scrollers. Yes, you can scroll up and down on the page, but then you can't see and use the icons at the top and/or the horisontal scroller at the bottom. Very often a line is wider than the editor and even wider than pressing the END key would suffice - and the horisontal scroller is out of view. Editing long lines in larger optimized css gets very tedious. (Attachment: scrolling.png).

Some might call this cosmetics, but as it has quite an negative impact on work time I'll call these issues bugs.

Hey Bruno, first of all: make sure to create multiple issues for these in the future. It's impossible to fix "Backoffice visual desing flaws" (there will always be more ;-) ).

The first one, I will focus on, the second one will be fixed in 7.6.0 when we replace the template editor - https://our.umbraco.org/contribute/releases/760

How did you get the first error screen though, it doesn't look familiar to me?
