U4-9593 - Broken button links in Subscribe to Notifications email for HTTPS sites

The email that is generated to a Subscriber of Notifications uses a Localized string from the language xml file. The email contains two buttons which are meant to take you to the node which has been altered.

Unfortunately, I've just run into the issue where these buttons do not correctly adhere to http:// versus https://. The button links are hardcoded in the string to http://.

For an HTTPS site, the url is http:// + site + :443. This causes an error that I was unable to get around using rewrite rules in web.config. Instead, I overrode the localized string for this key to set it to https://. This worked for me, but isn't obvious - and it should function dynamically in my opinion.

A better solution would be to determine http:// or https://.
