I wish there was an option to settle the table prefix for umbraco. That way I could have more than one umbraco instance using the same database, yet with different tables. I believe this should be simple to do, but I'm out of time right now to investigate umbraco's core.
What did you do? I install umbraco but I am not given any option regarding table prefix.
What did you expect to happen? That I could choose the table prefix much like wordpress does so I can have more than one umbraco application sharing the same database. In some cases it is expansive to have one dedicated database only to store a few megabytes. In case I'm setting a connection to an already existing database/tables that I want to use, the prefix could be set in a .config file.
What actually happened? Umbraco just assumes to find the default tables without any regard for table prefixes.
Thank you.

Yup, like Craig linked to, give the SQL user a schema and you're automatically good to go.
