U4-9635 - Publish to Azure failing in VS2017

Created by Craig Stevens 16 Mar 2017, 17:11:08 Updated by Craig Stevens 17 Mar 2017, 15:04:26

Duplicates: U4-4510

Umb 7.5.11 installed via NuGet

Attempted to publish site (set up as a web app) to Azure from VS2017 using a Web Deploy profile. Connection test to the Azure account was successful.

Publish failed. Activity log:- Transformed Web.config using C:\WebProjects\nmtp\nmtp\Web.Release.config into obj\Release\TransformWebConfig\transformed\Web.config. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Community\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v15.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets(2314,5): Error : Could not open Source file: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\WebProjects\nmtp\nmtp\Umbraco\Install\Views\Web.config;\umbraco\Install\Views\Web.config'.

The path exists and the file is included in the project.

As a test, I removed the Web.Config file in question. The next attempt failed the same way but on the \umbraco\Xslt\Web.config file.

FYI: this is a know problem, read all about it here, with workaround: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-4510

Workaround in this comment: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-4510#comment=67-24319 (<AutoParameterizationWebConfigConnectionStrings>false</AutoParameterizationWebConfigConnectionStrings>)

And I see you've commented in that issue before as well ;-)

@sebastiaan Well that was 2 years ago (how can I remember?) and didn't come up in a search with the terms I was using this time round. But thanks. I did try the AutoParameterizationWebConfigConnectionStrings fix in a wpp file (off SO) but didn't work. Will try Stefans fix now you've led me to it. Thanks :)
